Being a responsible pet owner and registering your dog has become more convenient with Council giving residents a green renewal option.

Residents can apply to receive their dog registration renewal notice via email for fast and efficient processing.

Mayor Tom Gilmore said registration notices would be sent out in May for the next financial year. “We want people to do the right thing and register their dog, and we have made that easier for residents,” Cr Gilmore said.

“It is very important to ensure your dog is registered with Council so in the event your pet makes a great escape we can reunite you both.”

Residents are also reminded that within 14 days Council must be informed of any changes to their dog’s registration details.

“It is also crucial to keep your details up to date and let us know if your contact details have changed, if you no longer reside in the shire, you give your dog away, or your dog dies,” Cr Gilmore said.

All dogs in Queensland must be registered by law, and failure to do so may result in penalties.

Residents who wish to receive their renewal notice via email should contact Council on 1300 308 461 or email info@msc.qld.gov.au.
